Management board:

Gideon Khobane
Chief Executive Officer

Gideon Khobane was appointed CEO of SuperSport in April 2016.

He was formerly the Director of M-Net General Entertainment Channels responsible for some of the most popular and exciting channels on DStv.

He has been with the MultiChoice Group since 2008. He has held roles as Head of Marketing and Publicity for M-Net Africa and Director for Research and Business Intelligence for M-Net South Africa.

Prior to joining M-Net, Khobane worked for a number of large South Africa companies.

He holds several qualifications, including a Bachelor of Commerce Degree specialising in Marketing Management, a post-graduate diploma in Marketing Management and a Master of Management Degree from Wits Business School where he specialised in Strategic Marketing.

Mohammed Bhyat
Chief Financial Officer

Mohamed Bhyat brings a wealth of experience to SuperSport, having held senior positions at a range of large South African companies. Most recently he was Chief Financial Executive at Paycorp Holdings, having also spent time at Primedia Sport as Chief Operating Officer.

Mohamed also gained years of experience at firms like Liberty Life, SA Eagle Insurance and the International Bank of Southern Africa.

He has a strong sports background which includes junior football coaching and endurance horse racing.

Graham Abrahams
Director of Enterprises & Regulatory

Graham Abrahams heads up Enterprises and Regulatory Affairs and has been with the company since October 2005.

He holds BA & B.Ed degrees and is a former Director of Communications in the Ministry of Sport and Recreation and Ministerial Advisor on policy formulation, regulatory matters and transformation.

Graham previously worked in the print media industry for 11 years as a freelance sports writer and columnist. He has been active in sports administration and dispute resolution since 1985.

Alvin Naicker
Head of Production

Alvin Naicker has been involved in sports broadcasting since 1990. In an extensive career, he has worked on five Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games, four soccer World Cups and two Cricket World Cups, chiefly as a producer or director.

Alvin was largely responsible for pioneering the directing and producing of South Africa’s first Twenty20 cricket matches. He was also executive producer for the 2010 Football World Cup for SuperSport.

The head of production at SuperSport since 2010, he is a multiple award winner at the SAB Media Awards, twice being named overall winner of the prestigious honour.

Alvin has been at the forefront of SuperSport’s emergence as a world leader in sports broadcasting.

Dheshnie Naidoo
Head of Acquisitions and Marketing

Dheshnie Naidoo joined the MultiChoice group in 1997 after studying video technology, where she pursued her dream of becoming a sound engineer. She had the opportunity to work alongside some of the world’s premier singers, musicians and actors.

She has held roles as events manager, operations manager and senior manager in the Outside Broadcast department and studios, where she gained extensive knowledge and exposure into the world of outside broadcasting.

Dheshnie also showed her talents during her on-screen performances as field presenter on GOtv Eastern Mosaic, Saffron and local dramas, proving her true passion for the television industry.

Dheshnie is passionate about introducing young talent and motivating women to enter the television production environment and delivering world class operations.

Marc Jury
Head of Acquisitions and Marketing

Marc's role is critical in both securing and retaining broadcast rights of major sport properties. As head of marketing, he is also responsible for SuperSport’s profile in the public sphere.

From 2012 to 2016 he was Head of Commercial and Marketing at Cricket SA, and was also critical in managing all commercial revenues and relationships with key CSA stakeholders.

Prior to this he was Commercial Executive at SA Investments Limited, a company in the business of commercialising sport and entertainment.

Armed with a Bachelor of Business Science Degree (with Honours in Marketing and majoring in Economics), he has become an influential figure in the South African sporting landscape.

Away from his desk, he is a committed family man who wields a cricket bat or a golf club – when he has the time.

Docky Dockrat
Head of Programming

Docky Dockrat joined SuperSport in 2006 as Content Editor of the Update Channel which has since been transformed into the continent’s leading news and highlights channel, SuperSport Blitz.

Docky has a wealth of varied media experience, having started in radio. He introduced sports bulletins to Lotus FM and anchored their first sports show, and at Talk Radio 702 he was sports editor and anchor on the John Robbie show. Online, he launched South Africa’s first Bollywood website in 1998 and in the print medium he was Bollywood columnist for the Sunday Times until 2011.

Docky is intrigued by the business of sports television while constantly being amazed by the theatre of sport and its ability to dish up the broadest range of emotions – sometimes in just a single broadcast.
