Titans seal consolation win

Shaun von Berg struck a century and took a 10-wicket haul, as the Multiply Titans sealed a four-wicket victory over the Warriors in the Sunfoil Series in Benoni on Sunday.

Full Scorecard: Titans v Warriors

The Titans overcame the disappointment of missing out on the Sunfoil Series title to finish second, this after the Knights secured the trophy yesterday following an innings victory against the Lions.

It was all to play for going into the final session on day four in Benoni, as the Titans still needed 44 more runs for victory with only four wickets in hand. What was supposed to be a challenging prospect was done with ease thanks to Heino Kuhn and Von Berg.

It was the perfect performance from Von Berg, who took four wickets in the first innings, then scored a crucial century, took a six-wicket haul in the Warriors' second innings, before rounding off his impressive display with a 24-ball 35.

It wouldn't have been possible without Kuhn's spectacular 165, battling on in the chase despite lose partners around him.

It concludes a disappointing campaign for the Warriors, who began the final round of Sunfoil Series matches at the bottom of the standings, as the only side who went into it without a mathematical possibility of lifting the trophy.

The one plus for the Eastern Cape side was Colin Ackermann, who finished at the top of the run-scoring charts thanks to his 150, but Simon Harmer's side will have to regroup as the Momentum One Day Cup kicks off on Friday.
